1. Urbanears Plattan 2: Best Fit for Small Heads

Starting off this list we have the Urbanears Plattan 2, a budget headset that is loved for its plush ear cups and fun color assortment.

This headset is super light and flexible, a sharp contrast to most gaming headsets which tend to be large and a little awkward. You could definitely wear the Urbanears Plattan 2 while walking around and listening to music.

The Urbanears Plattan 2 are also quite stylish, with 9 color options to choose from such as shades of blue, grey, red, pink, and white. I appreciate the variety of colors offered because not everyone wants to have a plain black headset!

The padded ear cups are soft and plush, while also being surprisingly great at canceling out noise. While the audio quality isn’t premium, it is still great especially considering the price point of this headset.

What makes this headset so great for people with small heads is the adjustable band, which can easily slide to account for different head sizes.

The cord on this headset is detachable, and there are ports on both ear cups. You can even link another pair of headphones to listen with a friend.

On the cord, there is a joystick that is used for all controls other than volume (you must adjust on your device). This format is honestly fantastic and much more intuitive than feeling around for specific buttons on the ear cups. The microphone is also located here, and I’ve found it to be of pretty high quality. Though it does pick up more background noise than I would hope, I’m satisfied with the microphone on this headset.

The Urbanears Plattan 2 can now be purchased in a version with Bluetooth, which can bring some advantages if you don’t like having a cord in the way. The battery reportedly lasts up to 30 hours, which is awesome.

This headset can also fold into a more compact shape, perfect to throw in a backpack or bag.

I think the Urbanears Plattan 2 headset would be ideal for students who are looking for a multipurpose option that you can both take to the library to get work done and game with. If you are interested in the Urbanears Plattan 2, you can check it out here.

  • Wireless Bluetooth: listen to your music free from cords.

2. SteelSeries Arctis 1: Best Wireless Headset for Small Heads

The next pick we have for you is the SteelSeries Arctis 1, a headset that packs a lot of bang for your buck. Under $100, the SteelSeries Arctis 1 is lightweight, comfortable, can go wireless, and of course, is adjustable to fit smaller head sizes.

Designed for optimal comfort, the ear cups ensure no hard/poky components press into your skin. The ear cups are also smaller than most headsets, making the SteelSeries Arctis 1 perfect for people who feel overwhelmed by bulky ear cups.

The adjustable band allows this headset to conform to your head shape, which is the main reason why we recommend this for people with smaller heads.

The simple all-black matte design is clean looking and professional, a look that I personally enjoy. If you like to have your headset light up and display fun colors, this may not be the choice for you.

The power button and other controls are on the ear cups, which is convenient for adjusting volume, answering calls, pausing/playing music, etc.

I found the audio quality to be really great with the SteelSeries Arctis 1. The crisp audio may not be as heavy with the bass as you’ll find with other headsets, but by no means is this a problem. The quality is unwavering even as you turn the volume up.

If you’ve ever experienced lapses in sound quality going from wired to wireless with past headsets, you may have concerns about this feature on the SteelSeries Arctis 1. Luckily, this is not an issue with this headset, I noticed no change in the audio while using it wirelessly.

To go wireless, all you need to do is insert the included 2.4GHz dongle into the device you plan on using, and you are all set. You will be able to get in around 20 hours of use without needing to charge the SteelSeries Arctis 1, so the battery life is pretty decent.

A ton of connection-related items will come with the SteelSeries Arctis 1, and it is helpful to have everything you need to connect this headset to all of your devices. A 3.5mm cable to go wired, the 2.4GHz USB-C wireless dongle, a USB-A adaptor, and a micro-USB to USB-A cable for charging are all included.

The SteelSeries Engine 3 software can be downloaded to customize the audio configuration if you have specific preferences, and the process is pretty simple. However, many will find the default settings to be ideal so changing things up definitely isn’t necessary.

The SteelSeries Arctis 1 is one of the best affordable options for people wanting a more snug fit, and with the excellent sound quality and Bluetooth, it could easily compete above its price point.

If you would like to check out the SteelSeries Arctis 1, you can find it here for a good price.

3. Astro A40: Best Sound Quality for Footsteps

A long-time favorite among gamers, the Astro A40 provides a stellar all-around listening experience, and it isn’t too heavy or bulky for those of us who have smaller heads.

As compared to the previous two options, the Astro A40 definitely has a flashier “gamer” aesthetic with large ear cups and a boom microphone.

Despite the A40 seeming big and unsuitable for adjustment, the headband can slide to fit many different head sizes.

The ear cups and band are padded with a really soft material, which makes this headset super comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

This headset comes in a few variations, so the color schemes vary. For example, there is a PS4 version that is mainly black but has blue and silver accents, but the XBOX version is black and red. There is also an all-black version for XBOX and Nintendo Switch.

The listening experience with the A40 is impressive, with ideal bass and vocals for listening to music and detailed sound for gaming.

The boom microphone, which produces clear, non-scratchy recordings, is actually detachable, which allows you to pick which side to attach it to.

A downside to this headset is that you can’t go wireless, which I would expect at this price point.

If you are looking for a mid-priced headset for gaming or listening to music, the Astro A40 is a good entry point into the “premium” level of headsets in terms of quality. This headset is popular for a reason, it’s hard to find something that matches its fit and provides top-notch audio. If this headset seems like the right fit for you, you can find the Astro A40 on Amazon at a great price.

4. Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum: Best Headset Software Support

Next up we have the Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum, a bulky headset that has the ability to go wireless without any detractions in quality.

The adjustable headband works to fit all head shapes, with super soft padding to ensure comfort. While quite sizable, the G933 remains light enough to where you won’t experience any pain if you wear them all day.

With LED lighting, this headset can display any color you want, letting you set the ambiance to whatever game you are playing. There are Logitech “G” logos on the sides of the ear cups that get illuminated with the LEDs, which I find to be tasteful and adds to the headset design.

The side panels of the ear cups can also be removed to reveal more of the LED lighting. I find it cool that there can be so many layers of customization for everyday devices, it really lets you add personality to the desk space.

If you have other Logitech products with the same Logitech G LIGHTSYNC technology that’s on the G933, you can sync them up to create a custom setup lighting through software.

The Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum is also well-known for its incredible audio. When playing games, even the slightest sound can be an important indicator for your next move, so having incredible surround sound is a major advantage with the G933.

On the right ear cup, there is a control panel with all necessary buttons for power, volume, and going between tracks.

The Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum can go wireless for up to 12 hours, but definitely less if you have the LEDs going. Compared to other wireless headsets, the battery life on the G933 is pretty low.

The G933 isn’t the most portable just based on its size alone, but it can actually fold and become more compact.

Similar to the Arctis 1 we looked at earlier, the G933 also includes a range of cables/attachments to use this headset with different devices. There is the necessary micro-USB charger, a wireless USB receiver, and a 3.5mm cable, which should cover all of your devices (including PC, PS4, Xbox, phone, and more).

The Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum is for someone who wants a more snugly fit headset with a little flair. The G933 offers LED lighting, super soft padding, and a near-perfect audio experience, so be sure to check it out here.

5. Sony Playstation Gold: Best For Headset PS4/PS5

Finishing off our list we have the Sony Playstation Gold, a sleek black headset with wireless capabilities and a sliding band to fit to your head shape.

If you plan on streaming, the Playstation Gold may not be the best option for you because it lacks a boom microphone. The microphone on this headset is built-in and actually works really nicely, but may not be ideal for streaming.

The black pleather headband and ear cushions make this headset super comfortable to wear, and out of this list the design on the Playstation Gold is my favorite. The design is simple and attractive, definitely not bulky like many other gaming headsets.

The inside of the ear cups are smaller than usual headsets, which is perfect for those with a smaller head and ears, butt may be too constricting for people with bigger heads (but they shouldn’t even be reading this article in the first place!).

I was surprised with how great the sound quality is on this headset, you really get everything you want in terms of audio during games. There is a companion app (Headset Companion App) that allows you to download game modes for a heightened gaming experience.

Included with this headset is a 3.5mm jack to connect to other devices, a USB dongle to go wireless, and a micro-USB cord to charge. You’ll find all of the ports and control buttons on the left ear cup.

Going wireless with the Playstation Gold is a seamless experience, but some people have experienced some problems going wireless with PC. You should be able to get around 8 hours of life before needing a charge.

If you are looking for a multipurpose headset that doesn’t seem too overbearing, the Sony Playstation Gold is a great pick. If you aren’t a high level gamer thats streaming constantly, this headset would be a great level up from ordinary headphones.

If you would like to check out the Sony Playstation Gold, you can find it on Amazon at a decent price.

Conclusion

If you have a smaller head, ending up with a headset that is too large can be a huge annoyance and even cause pain from long use.

From this list of five headsets that are favorited for their snug fit, I hope you can find a pick that works for you! All of the options we provided are rated highly, so you really can’t go wrong.

I wish you luck with the search process of finding a headset with the perfect fit- remember to look for options with adjustable headbands!
